Then Mary took a twelve-ounce jar of expensive perfume made from essence of nard, and she anointed Jesus’ feet with it, wiping his feet with her hair. The house was filled with the fragrance.
Mary’s courage in John 12 is inspiring. She takes the most valuable thing she has and pours it out at Jesus feet and doesn’t seem to care what others think. The Bible says her perfume is worth a years wages and she turns it all over the Lord. She doesn’t blink when Judas criticizes her because of his own selfish nature. Mary gives her best to Lord because she realizes His time with her is short.
There will always be other things we can give our time, talent, and treasures too but if we give everything to Christ He will take care of everything else. Life is short. We’ve all said it or at least heard someone else say it. Compared to eternity our life is just a small moment of time. Do you have the courage to give everything to the Lord despite what others might think?
I pray we can all have the courage to give God our best; our time, talent, and treasures, without holding back.
